Alpe d'Huez France

We honestly had the best time at Club Med Alpe d’Huez over Christmas week. From start to finish everything was spot on. The resort is brilliant — modern, super clean, well laid out, and in an amazing location with unreal views and easy access to the slopes.

The food was next level. The choice and quality were unbelievable, from fresh oysters opened in front of you to huge cuts of tuna and swordfish, plus loads of other beautifully cooked dishes. Every meal felt like a treat and was easily some of the best food we’ve had on any holiday.

The staff were fantastic — friendly, helpful, and always smiling, which made such a difference to the overall atmosphere. The ESF instructors for the ski lessons were also brilliant, patient, professional, and made learning and improving on the slopes so much fun.

A special mention to Gianni, the General Manager, who genuinely seemed to be everywhere. No matter where you were in the resort he was there, checking in and making sure everything was running smoothly — honestly, I don’t know how he found time to sleep!

Christmas week was made extra special with parties every day and the spectacular fireworks on Christmas night — it really added to the festive magic and created memories we’ll never forget.

Minor notes — our room was near a lift, which was a bit noisy at times, and the hotel is very busy, so it helps to be aware of peak times for meals. That said, neither of these were an issue at all and didn’t affect how amazing our stay was.

We made amazing memories, loved every day, and didn’t want to leave. Would 100% come back and couldn’t recommend Club Med Alpe d’Huez enough, especially for a festive holiday like Christmas week.

At times more bar staff were needed.
Food is not great for vegetarians.
Firework display was less than in previous years.

Let’s start with a be aware warning: I purchased a full ski equipment with the CM before arriving. When I went to pick up the equipment the I was told “ we will give you a very good pair of skis” . I expected to get good equipment so I took it and thanked them.
When I came to check out I noticed an extra charge of 57 Euros for ski equipment. I queried the charge and was told “we gave you better skis”, nobody told me that I will be charged extra for the “better” skis. So no choice!!!
The same happened with my 2 grand daughters. Apparently there are different prices for different qualities which is fine if they bother to tell you…..
It’s a nice way of making extra income but not a very , let’s say, a transparent one….. so be warned!!!
The club itself is huge. It’s renewed. Nicely designed. The rooms are large enough comfortable and pleasant.
The food is ok. We have stayed in the various CM over the last 40 years or so. The food went from WOW to ok….. it was the first week so long ques in the dinning halls.
Ski is perfect especially for average or beginner skiers. Lots of blue and green slopes.the ESF instructors are ,as always, very professional and one feels safe with them.
So bottom line , is the hassle free vacation worth it? I would say yes. But I expected a bit more

Club Med’s Teen Club for ages 11–13 is really good, and from my experience it was one of the best parts of the whole holiday. It doesn’t feel like a kids’ club at all — it feels fun, active, and made for people our age. Every day there are cool activities like sports, games, challenges, and group activities that make you excited to go. You meet lots of new people your age, and it’s super easy to make friends because you’re always doing things together. The G.O.s (staff) are friendly, energetic, and make sure no one feels left out. You also get some freedom, but everything is still safe and well organized. By the end of the trip, you have great memories, inside jokes, and friends you actually don’t want to say goodbye to.
