Club Med Changbaishan is a fantastic all-inclusive choice for families with kids over 4 who are learning to ski, with standout food, service and kids’ activities that more than make up for its remote location and gentle ski terrain.

Overall experience
This stay felt like a true winter escape, with everything from the warm welcome to the evening entertainment creating a relaxing and family-friendly atmosphere.

The resort is set in the Changbaishan Mountain area, so once you arrive you can largely stay inside the Club Med “bubble” and enjoy the facilities without needing to go out.

Food and dining
The food was a real highlight, with plentiful buffet choices, freshly prepared dishes and a wide variety of international and local Chinese options at each meal.

Presentation and quality were consistently high, and it was easy to find something suitable for both adults and children at every sitting. There is an additional hotpot restaurant which is available at an extra cost

Service and staff (Deri & Ann)
Service throughout the resort is warm and caring, and the G.Os and ski team create a very welcoming environment for families.

In particular, Deri and Ann stood out for their patience, attention to detail and genuine care, checking in regularly and helping to coordinate ski lessons and daily arrangements smoothly.

Kids’ Mini Club and ski
The Mini Club for children older than 4 years old is excellent, with full-day programmes, friendly staff and a fun, energetic vibe that many kids absolutely love.

My 5‑year‑old daughter preferred joining the group ski lessons rather than having a private coach, showing how engaging the group classes are for young beginners.

Ski slopes, cold weather and age limits
The ski domain here is mainly designed for beginners and lower‑intermediate skiers, with gentle green and blue runs; even the blue slopes feel relatively flat, which keeps the area safer and less crowded but may not satisfy advanced skiers.

Winter temperatures can drop well below −20°C, and conditions can become icy, so proper cold‑weather gear is essential for both adults and children.

There is no Petit Club on site for children under 4, and included ski lessons only start from about 4 years old, although nearby ski schools offer paid private lessons and rentals for younger kids at comparatively low prices.

Final thoughts
For families with children aged 4 and above, especially first‑time or beginner skiers, this is an excellent resort: easy, uncrowded slopes, a fantastic Mini Club, great food and truly caring staff make the trip very worthwhile.

The trade‑off is the remote location, very cold, sometimes icy conditions and limited options for children under 4, so it suits families who prioritise beginner‑friendly skiing and strong kids’ programming over challenging terrain.

We went as a 3 generation family and everyone had a fantastic time. Rooms were new and clean. Staff were very accommodating and polite. It was very affordable too. Food and drinks were delicious. I looked forward to the Chinese cuisines every day. There was also a special dish every night during dinner. Plenty of things to do after our daily ski lessons. The hot springs were a saviour after our ski lessons. We were entertained by all the activities planned out by the staff. Ski lessons were very proper and I appreciated all the instructors being strict with us before advancing us to the next levels.

We have had an incredible experience in Club Med Changbaishan! The ski slopes are gentle for beginners and intermediate, my son enjoyed and shined, credit to the instructor team! We the parents loved the fluffy powdery snow, especially in a sunny day that we can't enjoy enough hiking to the woods and ridges. We also went for ATV, river drifting, and hiking in the Changbaishan valley, good fun winter activities! We missed the heavenly lake unfortunately due to weather.

The hotel is awesome! Good variety of food, for both Chinese and international selections, lovely deserts and tea breaks. We have been well taken care of! Staff are warm and extremely friendly.

Spent an excellent week the the resort, on the ski slopes, the hot springs, and very hospitable staff. They treated us very well, with plenty of interactions and assistance on any deifficulties encountered. Really enjoyed our time, not just the facilities and premises, but great interactions with friendly guests and awesome staff.
