Learn aboutThis family trip was quite an experience, both have its up and downs. (Note: I am only including my comments excluding its price).
When I landed with my family, it was a heavy snow day and because of unforeseen weather, the highway closed down (announced by the government), so the journey from the airport took 3 hours instead of 2 hours. That’s fine. However, when we got to the resort, it was already 7: 45pm. We were frustrated because in order to be ready to ski the next day, we have to onboard and sign up for everything before 8pm (since it closes at that time). They should accommodate to guests who arrive late, by at least 30 minutes additional so guests are not in rushed.
Food at the buffet was great since there was a variety everyday and we stayed there for 5 nights, but I would not go try the yakiniku restaurant since you are paying for the experience than the food itself. You can try the hot pot since it’s included but it is not good.
Specific staff also deserves great comments including the two ski coach I had which was Hunter (Chinese) and Viktor (Danish) and specifically HINAKO (Japanese). She is truly a remarkable staff since she mainly supported activities that were non ski or snow board related. She taught us the bread and cookie class and guided us to take the gondola to Asari Peak and instead of 30 minutes that was scheduled, she was with us for 90 minutes. She definitely deserves a bonus and I would look for her at the resort.
At the end, we were scheduled and confirmed to leave on the 31st on the 9:15am, but we were notified on the 29th that our 9:15am was cancelled and we had to take the 11:00am bus to catch our 3:15pm flight departure but it was too much of a rush. Club med as an organization did not take care of this well. I was pissed and frustrated. We had to deal with them for the entire morning and afternoon on the 29th to take care of this and luckily club med took care of this and accommodated us a trip back to the airport on the 31st. However it took a long time of communication to take care of this.
At the end of all of this trip, there are ups and downs. Ups were all great because of the continuous activities that club med planned, but the downs can also be improvements for club med to work on.
See on TripAdvisorHinako-San is really friendly and a very good tour guide for the people who doesn’t ski or snowboard. I had lots of fun at the snow fun and gondola ride.
The food was great! They change the many everyday.
See on TripAdvisorThe whole trip started with a chaotic experience due to late arrival, 3 hours of bus ride and had a very short period of time to sign up for skii classes and mini club. Even with the verbal instructions of where to go, we needed to find the places ourselves.
All the food was great! There were different varieties of food everyday. We really enjoyed the food.
GO Hisako San was really great for the people who didn’t skii or snowboard. She helped with a lot of activities.
Everyone at mini club was very good! Kids had lots of fun! Especially Rein who went above and beyond!
Skii instructors were great! Hunter and Viktor took their time to teach us at different levels.
See on TripAdvisorSnow condition was perfect and after skiing we had great time doing arts and crafts with teacher Hinako 😍 will definitely go again!
See on TripAdvisorThis is our 2nd consecutive year back at Kiroro Grand. What we really enjoy are the all inclusive ski lessons, meals, and kids club. It makes holidaying with our 9 year old fuss free - he enjoys his time at kids club making friends and being out on the slopes, while the adults get to ski all day. The ski instructors are amazing and some of the best we’ve come across. We had Kaji, Kane, Masa, and Marcin. They were really good at identifying the drills that could help improve our skiing, and taught various techniques to help refine our turns for various terrains. We skied with Marcin on most days and he is an exceptionally good skier and very knowledgable. Despite the group size and varying abilities, he was always able to customise the classes to make it relevant for everyone and he covers a wide variety of runs so it was fun for everyone. Our son had private lessons with Will Marsh and improved so much, making it down red runs and parallel skiing for the first. It was also the first time he told us he had fun skiing. Will M. not only made it fun for him but also helped build his confidence. We also enjoyed our meals - the buffets at breakfast, lunch, and dinner are never boring, and the quality is great. Sam, the F&B manager, often interacts with the guests and makes us feel welcomed. Holidays at Kiroro Grand are wonderful and always leave us wanting more.
